Who We Are
Allied Folk is a trio of old and new friends doing classic and contemporary folk
music. We also do some rockabilly, some blues, acoustic folk/rock and pop.
Eddie Dee and Kevin Fandel grew up in a suburb of Boston Massachusetts and
were active in the Folk Mass and 'church basement' coffeehouse scene in the late
60's through early 70's.
Howie Rashba grew up in Hamden CT and played in a folk trio with his sister and
(future) brother-in-law there as he followed the emergence of the music of the
Beatles and Peter, Paul & Mary.
All three were active in their college folk music scenes. Then they immersed
themselves in careers for a number of years.
Several years ago Ed and Howie met and discovered their mutual interest in folk
music. Soon thereafter Kevin joined them and the three have been growing a
friendship and the repertoire of the music found here.
Some time back, we played the Kirkland Cafe in Somerville, MA. It was a "Kingston Trio Tribute night". We recorded the set, live from the stage. Here are a couple of mp3's from the set.
